Today I arrived in St Petersburg to begin a four day ride tomorrow across Florida on the Florida C2C trail. The trail is about 223 miles long but there is a 25 mile gap in the middle that we will shuttle across as the only way to traverse this gap in on HWY 50 versus trying to ride on the shoulder of a super busy road - which is not recommended.
This ride begins in St. Petersburg, FL and ends in Titusville, FL. Here is a good weblink to learn more: Florida C2C
Our ride will consist of the following rides:
- Day 1 St Petersburg to Odessa 50 miles
- Day 2 Odessa to Odessa to Ridge Manor 60 miles
- Day 2 24 mile Shuttle to Clermont
- Day 3 Clermont to Lake Mary, Orlando 43 miles
- Day 4 Lake Mary to Titusville 49 miles
For ridders that are going to ride the C2C trail without shuttle support, there is an alternative way around Highway 50 gap. It is longer and uses local roads. There is a good video of this on You Tube:
You can also find a "Gap" route map on Ride with GPS.
Bike Florida is our tour guide. Here is a link to their website: Bike Florida
Bike Florida was founded in 1992 to help communities in the State of Florida expand their bicycle awareness, education and infrastructure through bicycle tourism.
They run the ride several times a year (sometimes starting in Titusville). I have done a lot of rides and their pricing is quite reasonable given that you are staying in high quality hotels for three nights. You add the SR50 shuttle, the daily luggage shuttle and the return shuttle back to St Petersburg and you can't find a better value.
