Gold Beach,OR to Crescent City, CA -what a day

Today was a 60 mile ride that brought us to the California border.  The sun was out from the beginning of the tour - with 56 degrees at the start and 65 by the end.  Even better, the wind was from the North so we had a tailwind pushing us for the most of the way.

Another 3000 feet of climbing today with a 4 mile uphill right out of the hotel driveway.  Hard to believe - but the views on today's ride were the best so far.    There was Arch Rock (next two pictures) and Bridge Rock (3rd and 4th pictures)

Whale Tail Rock

Mile after mile there was another place to stop and pull out the camera and about 40 miles into the ride we reached the California border.

Most of the ride was on Rt 101 but when we crossed into California the crew found a road that went parallel to the main drag.  We were on it for about 20 miles and I doubt more than 20 cars passed me.   And no RV's!!!!

Hit the hotel at about 2 pm and checked in for the night.  As noted tomorrow is a rest day.  Doubt there will be a blog entry unless there is something really, really exciting to report on in Crescent City!  I Googled "Crescent City" and the local Subway came up as one of the best places to eat.  Oh well.

More shots from various lookouts....

Lighthouse viewed from Pebble Beach Drive in Crescent City California (the houses are a lot different on this Pebble Beach Drive from the ones on PB drive in Carmel.

Michael,
I am following you again from behind my desk. Someone you know gave away the link to your blog. Since I last weighed in... I believe that I have completed over 5,000,000 keystrokes and burned 3 calories!
Best wishes for a successful trip. Pictures look great!
Best,
