Day 25 Half Way and the Might Missouri River

Today marks the 1/2 way mark.  Both for days and mileage.  There is an official crack in the road that America by Bicycle claims to be exactly 50% between Oregon and New Hampshire.

Here is Craig from Portsmouth, NH straddling the line....

This was a real hot day and the 85 miles were even harder as we had 25-35 mph winds in our face the entire time.   Hardest day of the tour - And I have said this about 10 times so far.  But the wind was bad and our average speed was 5-10 mph.

At rap (where they review the day and tell you about the next ride) the Tour Director said he has been doing this for ten years and he does not remember a day like this.  So it finally caught up to us.

The ride followed the Missouri River and I took a couple of shots.

To be honest with you there were probably some better shots - but fighting the wind proved the better of me.  There were two 3 mile long hills that we could not get above 4 mph because of the wind.

Tomorrow the wind is supposed to drop to 15-19 mph.  Weatherman is calling it a breeze!!!!

Got one more shot of the river coming into Chamberlain - which I have no idea where that is.

I never realized how wide the river is.

We head to Mitchell tomorrow and there are two big highlights I hope to write about.  The first is the Corn Palace.  The second is the home of the world famous Lawn Mover Gran Prix.

This should get you excited to read tomorrow's entry!!!

Did you ever get to see any prairie dogs?! They are really cute! They hug each other. Hope you get to see some, they were my favorite part of Oklahoma.
